DESIGN BUREAU REDESIGN

In association with Design Bureau, Gronowski teamed up with photographer JJ Jetel to transform The Underground nightclub on the near north side into a unique interior environment for one evening only.

For 30 minutes, Gronowski and Jetel curated the lighting and audiovisual experience throughout the space, working with engineers to ensure the program would be delivered succinctly with imagery and music.  Their environment followed another local designer's vision for a cool lit oceanic vignette and ushered the space into a warm and ethereal “Summer Solstice” environment. With amber-saturated hues selected for the original, abstract film created by them as the centerpiece, they took full advantage of Underground's expansive 480 inch wide LED panel.

Visions of warm weather moments invoked a season shift and the celebration that ensues following. The film introduces ebbing and flickering light gestures, realized through water vessels and orchestrated studio setups consisting of a variety of lighting, dance, and haze machine.
